It does not work as a real gun and could never work as one.

It was made to be a replica likely made in the 60s.

On other websites such as plugfirecapguns etc and they say that the Winchester is exempt from the vcra because the gun/mechanism is pre 1873. However this is a REPLICA so is not itself pre 1873. So I believe is still subject to the act

There seems to be a metal rod down the middle and it doesn't appear that this can be removed.

other than the metal rod in the barrel, everything else appears to fully function.

This would be perfect for historical re-enactments, making movies / performances, .

The only markings on it I can find are pictured.

The first says "Made in Japan" and the other says "Western Saddle Carbine".

The scope piece folds up like a real one, the gun loads and cocks like a real one, the trigger strikes like a real one.

For all intents and purposes, it's a very realistic replica for a movie or a play or renenactors.

This replica rifle measures 36" long.
