Here we have a fascinating piece of WW2 memorabilia, the crash helmet worn by the NSKK dispatch riders during the time of the Third Reich.
This helmet appears to have been made in 1917, it is stamped with the markings ‘FLG BEK1’ and ‘1917’, this helmet would have been worn by the motorcycle riders and messengers of WW2 and is a leather skull and a padded ring around the outside. There is also a central padded spine and a short visor. There are two chinstraps that meet in the middle.
There is a large eagle over swastika on the front on the helmet in stamped metal.
The helmet was worn as far as we can tell for the duration of the war by motorcycle couriers and is a very odd and unique item.
It is interesting to note that also in stock we have the dress dagger of an NSKK leader.
~ Dimensions ~
The helmet is 10 inches (25.5 cm) from rear to peak.
The helmet is 9 inches (23 cm) wide.
The helmet weighs 600g.
~ Condition ~
The helmet is in fantastic condition for its age with some dryness to patches of leather but overall a supple leather helmet that has survived the decades unscathed.
~ Postage ~
UK postage is £15, international at cost and it can be viewed in our shop.
