Description

British 1907 Pattern Sword Bayonet With Hook Quillon By Enfield, Regimentally Marked to 3rd Battalion Highland Light Infantry, With Scabbard and Scarce Frog. Bayo 248 - Bayo 248

This is a splendid 1907 bayonet with quillon. It is nicely stamped on the blade with a crown over "G.R." and "1907" followed by "3 10" (March 1910) and "EFD" (Enfield). The other side carries the broad arrow and several inspection stamps. The pommel is regimentally marked to "3 H.L.I. 233" denoting 3rd Battalion Highland Light Infantry, bayonet number 233. The scabbard is a No 1 MK II and unusually carries the same no 233 to the mouthpiece as very few bayonets still have their original scabbards. It is complete with a scarce 1925 pattern webbing frog with a press stud to stop lateral movement on the belt. (see Bayonet, Belt & Frogs Part 1 by Anthony Carter, page 37, items 151 & 152 and Skennerton's item B234 pages 186-195 for the bayonet and scabbard). The frog appears to have been with the bayonet for a long time and this is how it came to us. The price includes UK delivery. Bayo 248
