2nd Pattern 'FS' Fighting Knives were introduced in 1941. This is a rare example of the WW2, 2nd Pattern, Officer's fighting knife. It has a knurled nickel plated handle and cross guard. The cross guard is stamped with WD ‘Arrow 56’ mark (see pages 55 and 58 and plate 122 of British & Commonwealth Military knives By Flook). The dagger is complete with original scabbard with nickel plated chape. The scabbard has had its 4 sew on tabs removed and its single elastic retaining strap is absent. Unusually the scabbard is also impressed with WD arrow and ‘56’, a combination which has not been seen before by Flook (illustrated inset in image 2). All leather and stitching are intact.
