2nd Pattern Fairbairn Sykes 'FS' Fighting Knives were introduced in 1941. This is excellent condition WW2 2nd pattern FS dagger and scabbard. This example is a Soldiers private purchase weapon. Its 164mm long double edged blackened blade with medial ridge has an etched banner on one side with name ‘H.A.F. Williamson’ no doubt the name of the WW2 Soldier who owned this dagger. Examples of private purchase FS daggers with etched panels are illustrated on pages 100 & 101 of The Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife & Other Commando Knives By Flook. The hilt is brass with knurled grip and an oval cross guard. Its original scabbard with blackened brass chape and belt loop retains 2 of its original 4 sewn on tabs. As is common with these scabbards its elasticated retaining strap is present but perished. All stitching and leather are intact. Price includes UK delivery. ED 2090
