Description

Boer War/ WW1 Era, British Pattern 1888 MK 1 Type II Bayonet To The Royal Garrison Artillery, Scabbard & Leather Frog By J & B Pearse, London. ED 2153

This is an excellent 1888 pattern, Mark I Type II Sword bayonet for the Lee Metford rifle which was used in the Boer War and WW1 complete with scabbard and frog. The pommel is stamped '3D RGA' to the Royal Garrison Artillery. It is in excellent condition with a superb clean double edged blade with medial ridge. The ricasso is crisply stamped Crown VR (Victoria Regina) & with profuse inspection marks and dates (illustrated) The reverse of the ricasso is stamped with the War Department WD and arrow together with inspection marks. The black leather scabbard with steel mounts and leather Frog are also in excellent condition with all leather and stitching intact. The set is complete with it's excellent brown leather frog. The stitching, studs, straps and buckles are completely intact and fully functional. The rear of the frog is nicely stamped by the maker ' J & B Pearse & Co Floral Street London'.
