A WW1, hook quillon '07' sword bayonet by Wilkinson, complete with original 1st Pattern scabbard. The sword bayonet has a 17" steel single edged blade which is stamped on the ricasso on one side with the Crown 'ER' (Edward Regina) stamp and "1907" (Pattern) together with "Wilkinson" manufacturer's mark. On the reverse it is stamped with inspection marks. The bayonet is fitted with a hook quillon which incorporates a muzzle ring. The grips are smooth dark wood secured with two screw bolts. The grip scales are stamped with crisp inspection marks. The bayonet has no issue or Regiment marks. It is complete with original steel mounted leather 1st pattern scabbard constructed with just the tip of the internal chape showing externally. All the stitching and leather of the scabbard are intact (see page 186 of British & Commonwealth bayonets by Skennerton).
