This is a fine condition original 1916 dated Imperial German Pattern 1898/05 Butchers Bayonet and scabbard for the Gew. 98 Mauser Rifle. The ricasso is stamped ' Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie, Solingen'. The back of the blade is stamped ' W 16' (1916) with the Imperial Crown. The blade is clean & the grips are original and un-damaged. The steel scabbard is also original and in good order with just a couple of minor dents to be expected. The heavy duty leather frog is stamped with the maker's details A.P.H.
