DEACTIVATED INERT. This is a rare American naval brass and wood drill round for the 3”Mk6/50 Caliber QF gun fitted to various WW2 American warships and submarines. The wood and brass round is 88 cm long and weighs 10.7kg. This round would have been used by the gun crews for training in gun drill, the round replicating the weight and size of the M15B1 high explosive round. The base is marked 3” DUMMY CARTRIDGE MK 6/50 CAL HMC 1944 329486-B-6-BET (naval anchor). No licence is required to possess this round in the UK if retained as part of a collection or display.
