Create my profile now! This is the modified version of the M1842 with an internal coiled spring as opposed to the leaf spring used on the M1842. The French obviously did not find this as entirely successful as later they reverted to the leaf spring. This bayonet has the curved Yataghan blade with the "Manufactured at Chattlerault in 1862-Model 1842" inscribed along the top of the blade. The crossguard is steel and the hilt brass. It is contained in its steel scabbard. A very nice condition early French bayonet which is becoming harder to find. (see White & Watts item 189 page 83 & 90). The price includes Uk delivery. Bayo 142
