This is an early M1956 bayonet for the 49/56 MAS Rifle. It has the first pattern blade with the longer false edge and is contained in the first pattern scabbard of steel with leather frog. The crossguard is stamped with an "E" followed by "HF" The blade is parkerised and the grips are black plastic. It has an unusual double muzzle ring arrangement which was necessitated by the integral grenade launcher on the rifle. These bayonets are getting harder to find on the collectors market. (See 'An Illustrated History of Bayonets' by Martin J. Brayley, pages 78 & 79). The price includes UK delivery. Bayo 255
