This is an original WW2 U.S. Navy MK 2 Fighting Knife made the uncommon to find maker PAL in its original scabbard. The grip is constructed of the correct compressed laminated leather washers and red spacers at the cross guard and pommel (see Silvey & Boyd’s book U.S. Military Knives Collector’s Guide, page 82 No 75 for illustration and page 91 No 177 for description where this type of knife by PAL is described as ‘uncommon’ ). It has a steel cross guard and a 6 ¾” parkerised bowie blade with fullers. The blade is crisply marked by the manufacturer ‘PAL’ on one side and ‘U.S Navy’ on the reverse. It is complete with its original leather scabbard with belt loop and retaining strap with brass press stud fastener. The scabbard is fitted with coiled thigh cord.
