Create my profile now!This is an original none standard pattern American Infantry Officer's Sword manufactured pre 1786 as used during the American War of Independence. The Sword has a 32" fullered blade (38" overall). The top section of both sides of the blade are blued and gilt etched with decorative foliate panels. The panels have scabbard wear but retain much of the blueing. It has a pierced brass knuckle bow and stepped ball top pommel. The hilt is grooved antique ivory and is mounted with a brass thistle badge possibly later applied. Its original brown leather scabbard has tooled decoration and fitted with brass locket with small brass ring and frog stud & brass chape. The body of the scabbard has 2 leather hanging straps with original steel rings. The n2 hanging straps have some service wear and the upper strap has 2 small tears which could easily be repaired.
