Military Flintlock Officer's Pistol Pre-dating the American Civil War, and Marked "U.S. R. JOHNSON MIDn CONN -1838" on the lock-plate. Rounded typical military skull-crusher steel butt-cap, matching steel trigger-guard, fore-end band and side-plate. Action in excellent working order. Complete with its original swivel steel ramrod. The steel barrel fitted with a brass fore-sight. This type of heavy calibre flintlock pistol were carried by U. S. military officers during the middle of the 19th century and could most probably have been carried during the American Civil war 1861-1865. Overall length 14 inches.
