Circa 1780-1815. Engraved on the lock-plate with the French arsenal markings (now faint). Standard military brass butt-cap, trigger-guard, side-plate and fore-end cap. 8 inch steel barrel. Overall length 14 inches. A good example of the standard French military Flintlock pistol carried during the Napoleonic wars and used against the British during the well documented Peninsular campaigns. Small hole pierced through the wooden butt to allow for the use of a lanyard during battle. Complete with its original steel ramrod, and in good overall condition showing signs of genuine use.
