The UK's Top Gun Clubs and Shooting Grounds

Rifle ranges, clay grounds and shooting clubs are the best places to develop your skills, meet like minded people and practise your shooting. With some offering amazing instruction and others having spectacular facilities it's impossible to put them in any order, so in no particular order here is a list of top gun clubs in the UK. The Phoenix Gun Club.

 

 

The Phoenix shooting club is a practical shooting club based in West Sussex, they are the largest practical shooting facility in the South East and welcome new members. They are happy to train and instruct new shooters making the club a great place for people to get into practical shooting. There are regular shoots hosted at their range near slinfold in West Sussex on the 2nd and 4th sunday of every month.

National Clay Shooting Centre

 

Built for the commonwealth games the National Clay Shooting Centre is a state of the art Clay ground Located in Surrey. The superb new layouts are equipped with 72 Mattarelli traps and offer impressive facilities for clay shooters of all abilities. The facilities include computer controlled scoring, trap sequencing, acoustic release and covered stands, all of this against the backdrop of over 3000 acres of unspoilt Surrey heathland. They also offer tuition in all formal clay disciplines for all levels of shooters

The National Shooting Centre, NRA Bisley

 

 

Any list of gun clubs wouldn't be complete without mentioning the largest, most diverse, range complex in the UK, Bisley. With a number of ranges starting at 10 yards to 1200 yards there is something for all rifle and pistol shooters.  Bisley has long been the world-famous home of all forms of target shooting, just by looking at the buildings around the centre it’s obvious the site has a lot of history. Managed owned and operated by the National Rifle Association Bisley is run with its members in mind making it a great place to get into shooting sports.

Bisley Shooting Ground, Surrey

 

England

Founded in 1895, Bisley is the largest sporting shooting ground in europe and is renowned for its expert tuition and facilities. The grounds are continually being developed to ensure an unbeatable service and variety of targets. For the beginner looking for an introduction to shooting or a seasoned shot, Bisley is worth a visit!

 

Scotland

 

Located in the Scottish Borders Bisley at Braidwood boasts Scotland’s largest sporting clay layout, skeet and is home to the country’s first full-bore rifle pipe range. The Clubhouse offers home baked cakes from the café, or delicious meals from the restaurant, as well as a working gunroom and sporting retail store. The ground offers the first full-bore rifle pipe range in Scotland, extraordinarily realistic simulated game, Pay & Play & tuition.

Diggle Ranges

 

 

The Diggle range complex is situated in the foothills of the Pennines and covers over 600 acres of wild moorland. The ranges were constructed by the military at the end of the 19th century and became a civilian facility in 1974 when the ranges were purchased by the Pennine Shooting Sports Association - a Club owned wholly by the members. Diggle offers shooting out to 1000 yards and have covered firing-points at 100, 300, 600 and 1000 yards. Virtually all disciplines are catered for, including Practical Shotgun, Practical Rifle/CSR, Tactical Rifle, F Class, Target Rifle, Lever-action Rifle, Black-powder Cartridge Rifle, Running Boar, Benchrest and Classic Military Rifle.  The Club have a proper stone-built, centrally-heated club-house with toilets and kitchen facilities and plenty of safe car-parking. They can also offer testing facilities for private companies and day-hire to other clubs or manufacturers wishing to show-case their products. Current membership is in excess of 300 and we have a comprehensive shooting calendar.

South downs gun club

 

 

Southdown Gun Club is based in the heart of Sussex and is one of the few grounds in the country that can boast their doors have been open for 30 years!! Southdown is one of the largest shooting grounds in the country and is accredited with CPSA Premier status.The Club is a firm favorite with clay pigeon shooters of all abilities. For the experienced shot there are skeet, DTL, ABT, Compak and their famous English sporting layouts. They also host regular registered competitions for all disciplines including English sporting, FITASC & Sportrap, offering cash prizes in all classes. If you are new to shooting they also offer starter stands and qualified instructors who will soon have you confidently breaking clays.

The Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club

 

The Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club is an award winning, pioneering, ladies shooting club. They regularly host events solely for women they are mission to get more girls involved in shooting. It's all about reputable instructors, low recoil guns, like minded ladies. They welcome total beginners, you don't need a gun, any experience or indeed anyone to come with. All you need to do it book in and they will make sure you have a fantastic day.

Minsterley ranges

 

 

Minsterley Range complex is a privately owned 16 acre shooting ground located in the most breath-taking Shropshire countryside. The complex hosts a 100 metre range which has 15 firing points, all with proper concrete shooting benches, covered firing points and a reloading room to the rear. It is generally regarded as the finest Benchrest shooting range in the country. There are two further 50 metre ranges with covered firing points and one of them has an electronic running boar target facility. That's not all, Minsterley also has three sporting clay shooting layouts and a practical layout. As Well as having a large membership, they are very keen to welcome visitors and guests and are generally open to the public. Unlike most rifle ranges you do not have to be a member to shoot here!
