A very unusual wooden powder horn engraved and inlaid in bone with a hunting scene of a figure on horseback carrying a pistol and sword. The forest scene showing a dog persuing a stag in the foreground and various bone inlaid trellis work. The hunter in period costume of circa 1600 and carrying a pistol and sword at his side. The horn is approximately 10 inches overall length. The iron mounts, spout, and cut off lever are etched overall and are in very good condition. This is an excellent example of its type. A metal belt hook is fitted to the rear of this flask. The whole piece is in very good condition. Probably Dutch or German in the style of 1580-1620. Ref 8728.
