This is an early example of what was later known as the ‘Tornado’. It’s an early example featuring a steel butt plate and pistol grip capping. We think this was a late 1960’s example as the 1970’s models did not have these features but scopes for air rifles were coming into fashion towards the end of the 60’s. Earlier models didn’t have scope rails in the early 1960’s.
It comes with an original cardboard box for a Relum Rifle. We were informed that this originally came with this rifle from new although it does feature a break barrel model. These were made in ‘Eastern Block’ Hungary they probably weren’t too fussy what the rifle was packaged in as long as it featured the make. We’ve never seen a box for one of these. They would have been discarded by most owners.
A really good example of an early Relum Air Rifle and for many their first rifle – it certainly was for me. I was given a Tornado example as a Christmas present in 1972 !
