A superb example of the Swiss Karabiner Modell 1931, universally known as the K31, presented here in excellent condition as a deactivated rifle — a configuration seldom encountered on the market and offering genuine display appeal alongside full legal compliance.

Designed at the Eidgenössische Waffenfabrik in Bern under Colonel Adolf Furrer, the K31 was formally adopted into Swiss Army service in 1933 and remained the standard-issue rifle until replaced by the Stgw 57 in 1958. Chambered for the 7.5x55mm Swiss GP11 cartridge — a round broadly comparable in ballistics to the 7.62x51mm NATO — the rifle was manufactured to exacting standards of fit and finish that consistently set it apart from its contemporaries. Its defining mechanical feature is the straight-pull bolt action: the shooter pulls directly rearward and pushes forward to cycle the action, without the rotary lift of a conventional bolt. This gave the Swiss infantryman a materially faster rate of fire and contributed to a reputation for exceptional accuracy in mountainous terrain.

With approximately 528,000 produced, the K31 saw service across three decades and through the entirety of the Second World War, serving a nation that maintained armed neutrality throughout. Today it is regarded as one of the finest bolt-action service rifles ever issued to a national army, and deactivated examples of this quality, complete with period leather sling and muzzle protector, are rarely offered for sale.
