Chinese Type 56 semi-automatic carbine (SKS), deactivated, in good overall condition with its signature fold-out cruciform spike bayonet and original canvas and leather sling.

The Type 56 is China's licensed production of the Soviet Simonov SKS carbine, a gas-operated self-loader chambered in 7.62x39mm. Production began in 1956 — giving the rifle its designation — and it served as the backbone of the People's Liberation Army for the best part of thirty years, seeing service across numerous Cold War-era conflicts before being superseded in front-line use by the Type 81 assault rifle in the early 1980s. Manufacture was spread across multiple Chinese state arsenals, each identified by its own stamped mark, and the rifle was produced in very large numbers for both domestic service and export. The Chinese version differed from its Soviet counterpart most visibly in the later adoption of the distinctive cruciform spike bayonet in place of the original blade type — the spike bayonet has since become the defining feature associated with the Chinese-made example.

This example is offered as a deactivated piece complete with sling, making it a self-contained and presentable collector's item. Good condition throughout, retaining its original configuration. A straightforward, honest example of one of the most widely distributed military self-loaders of the Cold War period.
