Description
MATCHING NUMBERS, Imperial German Seitengewehr Model 1898 Pipe Back Bayonet By Simson & Co, Suhl For G98 Rifles & Scabbard. Sn 10707:4 - 10707:4
Manufactured from around 1902 until at least 1917, The Model 1898 Bayonet was the Imperial German response to the French 1886 Lebel narrow bladed bayonet. This is an excellent German Seitengewehr M 1898 bayonet for German G98 Rifles. It has a clean 20 3/4" pipeback blade with swell point tip. It has a full central fuller. The ricasso is stamped by the manufacturer 'Simson & C. Suhl'. It has undamaged grooved slab wood grips secured by bolt screws. It has a swept cross guard stamped '23296'. It is complete with it's leather scabbard. The scabbard has steel locket and chape. The frog bar on the upper mount is stamped with matching number '23296'.
