Serial number 270
This rifle was manufactured between 1933 and 1939 by the renowned Gun makers W.W. Greener of Birmingham and was the only type of Air Rifle they produced.
It is a heavy break barrel rifle which features a unique cam mechanism which pulls the barrel breach tight to the cylinder by operating the lever when the barrel is closed. This was to make an improved airtight seal which was supposedly better than most break barrel rifles available at that time.
This rifle is in good condition retaining a fair proportion of its original blueing. There is wear to the finish mainly on areas subject to more handling such as the underside of the cylinder and cocking link but generally it is in good order.
The stamping’s on top of the cylinder detailing ‘W.W. Greener London & Birmingham’ is clearly visible.
To the left side of the barrel pivot the word ‘OIL’ is stamped to either side with the serial number ‘270’ and ‘.22 BORE’
The stock is in good condition with no splits or cracks but it does have marks consistent with its age but nothing serious. It is fitted with its correct steel butt plate.
The rifle is fitted with its open sights which function correctly.
The rifle cocks and fires without issues and the cam mechanism works correctly.
An good example of this rare 1930’s British made Air Rifle.
