WW1 1917 Imperial German Waffenfabrik Mauser Model 1898/05 G98 Mauser Rifle Bayonet With Steel Scabbard. BAYO 449 - BAYO 449

This is an original WW1 dated S98/05 Butcher bayonet, made by Mauser. The 14 ½” long Butcher blade has just staining consistent with age and is crisply stamped WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER – A.G. OBERNDORF AN. On the spine it has a crown over W mark & ‘17’ date (1917). According to Carter in his book German Bayonets, the models 98/02 and 98/05, Mauser only made this model in 1916 and 1917 with 3 exceptions (2 in 1915 and 1 in 1918). The grooved wood grips are undamaged and correctly secured by screw bolts. Its original steel scabbard with frog bar has light surface pitting consistent with age and just a couple of light dents to be expected with age & service use. The price includes UK delivery.
