This is an original miniature WW1 German trench dagger/ fighting knife most likely a manufacturer's sample piece made to advertise the quality of their full size weapons. The full size pattern of Trench dagger were made in the form of Dress bayonets most without bayonet slots and functioning lug buttons (pages 37-40 of the book Fighting Knives by Frederick Stephens illustrates similar full size examples). This quality miniature of the full size Trench dagger measures 8 ¾” overall with a 5 ½” nickel plated steel blade. It has a nickel plated ‘Eagles Head’ form pommel. The chequered grips are secured with two rivets. It has an up-swept quillon nickel plated cross guard. The blade has no manufacturer marks. It comes with its original black enamelled metal scabbard. The scabbard retains most of its original finish. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 11218
