~ 18th Century Japanese Tanto Dagger ~

This tanto is made in the style of a katana sword. It may well be a reused tip of a period katana.

The blade is shaped in the 'Shinogi-Zukuri' style and the mune (blade back) is shaped in the 'Ihori' style.

The tip is Chu (medium) and the spine of the blade is Ihori.

The hamon is not visible anymore due to its patina and surface rust.

The grip of the tanto is made from black rayskin covered in a woven green silk.

The kashira (pommel) is made of copper as are the fushi (sleeve) and the habaki (ferrule/blade’s locket)

The tanto comes with one brass seppa (spacer).

The tanto comes with no guard or scabbard.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade has a length of 8 ½ inches (21.5 cm), the tanto has an overall length of 12 ½ inches (32 cm). It weighs 290 g.

~ Condition ~

The blade developed a patina and some surface rust.

The grip remains in good condition but the spacer is loose.

~ Postage ~

UK postage is £18, international at cost and it can be viewed in our shop....Read full description
