This is a English percussion pocket pistol made by Archer of London made C1800 (there are several Birmingham based Gunsmiths named Archer recorded in that era but we can find no record of a London based gun maker named Archer). It is 6 ¼” overall with a 1 ¾” turn off steel barrel. The smooth bore has staining and residue consistent with age and use. It has plain bag shaped wood grip which is undamaged, has a safety bolt & void oval silver escutcheon inlaid on its top edge. It has a strong cocking & firing action. The hammer is fitted with flint. Both sides of the action have scroll engraved panels within which, on the left, is the name of the maker 'Archer' & on the right 'London'. The underside of the steel action has black powder proofs. The price includes UK delivery. NB As an antique flintlock pistol no license is required to own this item in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. Sn 17558
