Create my profile now! This is an Indian made reproduction of the Baker rifle.
This is a smooth bore shotgun NOT a Rifle.
Please note I have listed this as 20 bore it is in fact .645 Cal however on my Shotgun Cert it was listed by Derbyshire Arms as .62 Cal I have never had any reason to correct the entry as it is a Muzzleloading Flintlock.
I purchased this around 8 years ago from Derbyshire arms, I have extensively reworked this since purchase to a standard that holds up well considering the origins.
The Lockwork has been completely rebuilt using US made Track of the Wolf parts and now functions smoothly and effectively, the breech plug has been remade and fitted correctly to form a gas tight seal and the 'Hook' tang holds the barrel in place as it should.
The flash hole has been improved to give a very fast ignition which contributes to accuracy.
I have shot patched ball over 25m and it consistently hits the bull (Off a rest I'm not that steady!)
It measures out at .645 Cal so for patched ball a .62 or .63 ball would work well.
I have stripped the varnish finish off the stock smoothed, stained and oil finished the stock which I think looks exceptional.
The Barrel has a very fine even browning to it which is oil finished to preserve it.
If you are looking to experience shooting a Baker at a fraction of the cost of original here is a great opportunity.
