INERT DEACTIVATED. This is an unfired British WW1 (1915 dated) No 82 mark III nose fuse for the .5 inch howitzer shrapnel round. The fuse was a modified British No 80 time and percussion fuse and the time element was altered at the lower settings by a small steel plate riveted on to the bottom time ring by three brass rivets. The fuse is stamped No.82 III COW monogram (Coventry Ordnance Works) 6/15 (June 1915 date). The fuse is complete with the percussion plunger under the alloy top cap.
