This is a quarter sectioned unfired British No 208 fuse for the British 3.7 inch anti-aircraft which was the standard heavy anti-aircraft gun used from 1938 throughout WW2. This clockwork fuse superseded the No 199 powder fuse in 1942 with a maximum running time of 43 seconds. A quarter section has been removed from the body of the fuse revealing the clockwork and safety shutter mechanism. This fuse is stamped No.208 MK6/2 struck out and 208 MK8/1 BW53 LOT 90 004919. The main body of the fuse is made of brass. There is a brass screwed locking collar above this securing the alloy portion of the fuse. This fuse is in excellent condition.
