The 77mm gun was nicknamed the Wizz Bang in the trenches due to the noise it made before exploding. This is a fired projectile which retains much of its original mid blue paint together with its scarce DoppZ96 alloy and steel fuse. This round is probably a WW1 soldiers pickup from the trenches and brought home due to the condition of its paint and fuse. The projectile and fuse have no dents. There is scuffing in the blue paint to the projectile due to its deceleration coming to rest in the earth. The brass cartridge case has the following head stamp AEG within a rectangle, Okt St. and 1915, the date of manufacture. The fired steel shrapnel projectile has a single copper driving band and is stamped on the base 220 GG9 ZB GG5. The projectile has an alloy DoppZ96 Sb nose time and Percussion fuse and is stamped DoppZ96 over Sb. No licence is required to possess this inert round in the UK if retained as part of a collection or display. The price includes UK delivery. O 1584
