~ Kriegsmarine Set ~
Here we have a very unusually complete presentation set of Kriegsmarine officer’s accoutrements including the dagger with its scabbard, the gilt U-boat war badge, a pair of jacket buttons connected by a chain, a gilt Third Reich cap badge with an eagle over swastika and lastly a Kriegsmarine sailor’s cap.
The set comes with a presentation box with fitted sections for everything aside from the cap.
The cap is the white variant for the summer or tropics uniform.
The dagger is a very nice piece, coming with its sheath and being clearly marked. The blade was made by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen, Germany.
There is some age to the blade showing but the frost etching is still crisp and the makers mark is very clear. The sheath is also highly decorated and retains both its original suspension rings.
The buttons are engraved with the word ‘REICHSMARINE’.
The sailors cap is also a nice find, being in very good shape with a few cosmetic blemishes but has a supple fabric and a well looked after leather liner with no signs of drying. The cap has Kriegsmarine, emblazoned on the front in gothic font but otherwise has no marks. The cap has an inner diameter of 7 inches (18 cm) and would fit a medium sized head.
The U-Boat War Badge has an eagle upon a swastika above a wreathed U- Boat. The back has a maker’s mark that resembles an ‘EQ’.
