Circa 1875. Colt's 3rd Model derringer was the brain child of F. Alexander Thuer, a veteran gunsmith at Samuel Colt's manufacturing plant. Nickel plated finish over brass frame. Bird's head wooden grips. Barrel engraved on top "COLT". Marked on the frame .41 Cal. Barrel swivels to the side for loading. London proof marks stamped under the barrel. Overall length 5 inches. Good condition, showing very little sign of use or wear. Grips retaining some original varnish. Action works fine. Ref 1398. This is an obsolete antique item and is sold as a collectors item only.
