This heavy pepper-box is a larger size overall than normal and was designed to be used for self-defence in the middle of the 19th Century. The six shot blued barrel finely engraved with scrolling. The frame also engraved. Wooden bag shaped grips. Folding trigger, lift up loading gate. In reasonably good condition with the six barrels retaining some of it's original finish. Action in good working order, the cylinder revolves as it should. Length approx 5.5 inches. Ref 1838. This is an obsolete antique item and is sold as a collectors item only.
