The makers name Conway engraved on the lock-plate in a gold oval plate and on the breech of the octagonal barrel. Possibly Thomas Conway who had workshops in Manchester (1803-1852). This a conversion from flintlock to the percussion system by the drum and nipple method. An oval shaped escutcheon fitted to the rear of grip and fine chequering to the grips. Embossed metal Lions head butt cap. The lock fitted with a sliding safety to the rear of the hammer. Engraved trigger guard and lock plate. Dolphin hammer. Action in working order. Barrel length 5 inches. Overall length 10 inches. The ramrod is missing otherwise in good condition with a few dings and scratches during it's working life. Ref 3201.
