Description

Largest selection of genuine antique weapons for sale in UK. See our website andrewbottomley.com. Ref 3414. A Superb and extremely rare European Medieval Knightly Sword. Very good Condition. Circa 1300-1400. Circular pommel with a simple straight iron cross-guard made in one piece. The cross-guard is decorated with lines, dots and crosses. The wide double-edged blade is inlaid at the forte with very faint markings, it is unfortunately too faint to read. The blade is of a flattened diamond section which tapers gradually towards a good strong point. In remarkably good condition with a pleasing patina. Blade is 31 inches in length and 2.5 inches wide at forte. This outstanding example of a knightly sword has been in a little known collection that was only recently dispersed. It shows very little corrosion at all and is still very solid. The hilt / blade does not rattle. The original grip covering is missing. Overall length 37 inches. A superb and rare example. Ref 3414.If you wish to purchase this item please visit our website andrewbottomley.com where you can pay by credit/debit card or bank transfer at no extra charge. Established 1968.
