Description

An extremely fine Pair of Napoleonic era French Officer's Flintlock Pistols of presentation quality. Circa 1790-1810. Made by Le-Page and signed on the lock-plates - Le-Page Bruxelles. Browned damascus patterned barrels, approx 9 inches long. Embellished with gilt-brass mounts overall, including butt caps with beaded decoration, multi-lobed trigger guards, unusual brass beaded work surrounding the lock plates and extremely unusual shaped ramrod pipes of seven rings. The locks retaining some original finish. Calibre approx .60 cal. Both pistols fitted with adjustable set-triggers. Overall length 15 inches. Actions work fine. Finely chequered grips. A very fine quality and extremely unusual pair of French flintlock pistols from the Napoleonic era. Ref 3780. A piece of beaded brass suround from the wooden fore-end missing from one pistol (please see photos). The Battle of Waterloo was fought on 18 June 1815 between the French Army led by Napoleon Bonaparte and a coalition led by the Duke of Wellington for Great Britain, & Marshal Blücher of Germany. The decisive battle of its age, it concluded the Napoleonic wars that had raged for 23 years, it ended all French attempts to dominate Europe, and destroyed Napoleon's imperial power forever.
