A scarce French Military Officer's percussion Pistol manufactured circa 1822 and dated on the barrel tang. This pistol was manufactured at one of the main French Military arsenals and is engraved on the lock-plate Manuf Imperiale de St. Etienne. Rounded military skull-crusher brass butt-cap, matching military style brass trigger-guard, fore-end band and side-plate. Complete with its correct wide-ended iron ramrod. Approx .70 calibre. Overall length 14 inches. This type of large calibre French military pistol was also carried during the time of the American Civil War. (Circa 1861-1865). Very good condition and working order.
