A fine pair of large bore brass barrelled flintlock holster pistols engraved "SHARPE" quite possibly made for export to the United States. Circa 1780-1800. Standard semi-military style brass trigger guards, butt-caps, ramrod pipes & side-plates. The lock-plates and barrels engraved with the makers name SHARPE. Brass barrels measure 8.5 inches in length. Walnut grips with oval brass escutcheons. Proof marks stamped on each breech forward of the barrel tang. The barrels also engraved "EXTRA PROOF". Actions in working order. Overall length approximately 14.5 inches. These are excellent examples of privately made military style Flintlock pistols of the type carried by military officers and ships captains during the late 18th century. Calibre approx .70. Complete with their correct brass tipped wooden ramrods. Some minor dings and scuffing otherwise these are a very good pair of rare large calibre flintlock pistols in good condition. Ref 9831.
