This is a scarce Siamese 1919 Pattern (designated Type 62) bayonet. It is actually a British 1907 Pattern bayonet which has been re-furbished. It has had the original markings ground off and replaced with a tigers head stamp and Siamese script. These were issued to the 'Wild Tiger Corps', the personal body guard of King Rama VI. The scabbard has alo been alterered by replacing the leather body with sheet steel. The original issue of rifles and bayonets in 1919 was only 10,000 and as King Rama VI only reigned until 1925, these bayonets are now un-common (see 'An Illustrated History of Bayonets' by Martin J. Brayley, pages 214-216). The bayonet is in very good condition as is the scabbard. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 14326
