RARE NAVAL .50CAL RIM-FIRE SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE MUSKET - serial number 10127, with 30inch sighted barrel marked with an anchor at the breach and with 3 line address and March 6 1860 patent date, steel action marked with the serial number adjacent the hammer, ladder rear sight to 800yds, walnut butt stock with tube magazine, fore-stock, three barrel bands and sling swivels. Bore very bright with good rifling, strong action, no play, the butt stock pretty good, the fore-stock worn. 118cm overall. A rare rifle and early serial number.

This is an example of one of the Model 1860 Military Style rifles shipped to the U.S. Navy during the Civil War. A total of 1,009 Spencer rifles were ordered by the Navy during the Civil War and, of those, 709 had a lug for a saber bayonet. The remaining three hundred were from Army Model stock on hand. The top of the receiver is marked "SPENCER REPEATING/RIFLE CO. BOSTON MASS/PAT'D MARCH 6, 1860". The top breech end of the barrel is marked with an anchor, and the serial number is marked on the top rear of the receiver. It has a brass blade front sight that doubles as a bayonet lug and folding ladder rear sight graduated to 800 yards.
