American Civil War period Colt 1849 pocket revolver, named to Captain Charles Marshall. A .31 calibre, 4 inch barrel and 5 shot capacity cylinder, steel showing dark patination overall. Brass frame and walnut grips. All matching numbers of “222512”. Good crisp action, Colt cylinder design now quite worn. Backstrap of the brass frame is engraved “Capt Charles Marshall, Voyage Of 1862 Kavai S.I.” (Kavai Sandwich Islands).
Capt. Charles Henry Marshall was proprietor of the transatlantic packet Black Bull Line sailing from New York.
