WW1 1918 British Officer's Webley MK VI .455 Calibre Service Revolver With Open Cylinders & Over Bored Barrel, Inert Deactivated Rounds & Sam Browne Leather Holster Captain Walter Swaby MC Lincolnshire Regt With Research Dossier*VERY EARLY UK 1991 DEACTIVATION* Sn 21555

Captain Walter Swaby MC born 10/01/1893 in Lincolnshire joined the Lincolnshire Regiment in 1914 shortly after hostilities commenced, after training he and the Regiment were shipped to France and the Regiment saw much action. While serving as 2nd Lieutenant the Officer was awarded the Military Cross for an act of exemplary gallantry during active operations against the enemy, when he extricated his men from his advanced posts under heavy machine gun fire, while arranging covering fire (London Gazette 20/9/18). The Officer moved through the ranks to become a Captain. Later in the war, in Northern France the Officer was wounded in action by shell fragments which eventually led to his medical discharge shortly after the war ended. This is an excellent, original, WW1 dated British Officer's MK VI .455 calibre Service Revolver with inert rounds & holster named to the officer. The pistol has open cylinders that will accept inert rounds. Matching numbers '408441' are stamped on the cylinder, barrel and frame. On the right side of the frame it is stamped ' Webley Mark VI Patents' with 1918 date. It has other WD proof/ inspection marks on its frame & trigger guard. The pistol has its original finely chequered Bakelite grips marked ‘M’ (Medium grip size) and Lanyard ring. The grips are undamaged. Deactivated to very early UK specification in 1991 the pistol cocks & dry fires and has open cylinders that will accept inert rounds and an open over bored barrel. The pistol comes with 6 inert deactivated rounds of .455 calibre ammunition. It is complete with an original brown leather Sam Browne holster in which it was found. It has a full flap cover with single brass stud. It has a large rear belt loop with original brass bar. The inside of the flap has contemporary hand written Officer’s name & Regiment designation ‘2 Lt W. Swaby Lincoln Regt’ (indicating this holster was with the Officer when he took the action meriting award of his MC). All leather and stitching of the holster are intact. The set comes with a comprehensive dossier of documents detailing The Lincolnshire Regiment’s History, Captain Swaby’s antecedents & military career including actions he was involved in and copies of service record entries. The price for this rare to find WW1 revolver includes deactivation certificate and UK delivery. Sn 21555
