This is the American M3 knife which is sometimes called the para leg knife as it was often seen strapped around the boots of the US airborne paratroopers. The M3 sheath knife was issued for a short time to all soldiers in the American Army including the Infantry and Paratroopers, usually to those who had a weapon that could not have a bayonet fitted to it, like the Thompson machine gun. The handle is made from leather washers, and has markings on the blade "US M3 CAMILLUS 1943". Paired with the scarce leather M6 scabbard with metal plate on the bottom to stop the blade from cutting through the leather, diamond shaped rivets, metal teeth on the throat guard to help prevent the knife cutting the leather, strap fastening across the handle, belt loops, metal belt hangers and leather thigh cord. The scabbard is stamped ‘U.S. M6 MILSCO 1943’. A very rare piece. The price includes U.K. delivery. 18891.
