An original 1956 dated Belgian Army brush stroke parachutists smock & trousers in very good condition as issued to troops serving in the Belgian Congo. Following the Second World War the Belgian Army began designing and making its own uniforms again. The popularity of the British Denison smock, which this jacket so clearly takes its influence from, was such that many countries decided to design their own. Like its British counterpart the smock features a printed camouflage pattern, usually referred to as 'Brush Stroke'. The colours and pattern are not too dissimilar to the British smock of the Second World War but are distinctly Belgian. The general cut and design also follows the Denison quite closely with four patch pockets to the front and a fish tail to the rear. The jacket features a full zip front which is covered by a fly which fastens with pop studs. Inside the smock the original label is present and bears the markings 'ABL &BAWI' the size of 5 50/58 (approx. UK size 38” chest 5’7” height) and 1956 date. The Camo trousers also in very good condition have a reinforced seat, draw cord and buttoned waist, flap pocket on one leg and turned up boot legs. There are no size, maker or date labels. They are approx. UK size leg length 29” waist 34-36”. All material of the smock and trousers are clean and intact and all buttons present. The price includes UK delivery. U 379
