**BEST QUALITY**C1840 Cased, Pair Of English Collins London Gentleman’s 16 Bore Percussion Belt Pistols With Damascus Steel Barrels & Accessories. Sn 21018 - 21018

James Collins was an English Gunsmith recorded as having premises at The Gun & Pistol Repository, 1-2 Vigo Lane, Regent Street, London between 1825-1832 and 115 Regent Street between 1833-1854. This is an excellent pair of cased Gentleman’s percussion belt pistols by Collins. They have 5 “ Damascus sighted steel barrels, original undamaged walnut stocks with chequered panel grips which have shell carved butts, ornately engraved foliate design trigger guards, Dolphin hammers & actions. The top of each grip have void white metal escutcheons inlaid. Each pistol is fitted with a blued steel belt bar. The top of each barrel is crisply engraved by the manufacturer ‘Collins London’ and have English proofs. Both pistols are complete with their original captive steel ram rods. The barrels smooth bores have just light staining consistent with age. Their cocking and firing actions are crisp. The pistols are complete with original oak case. The case has a hinged lid the centre of which is has a folding brass carry handle. The case has its original lock (key absent). The inside of the case is lined with felt and has compartments for accessories and the pistols. Accessories consist of a ‘Sykes’ patent copper and brass powder flask with sprung nozzle and 2 hinged compartments for ball and percussion caps, ball mould stamped ‘28’, turn screw, nipple key, ebony handled cleaning rod with brass cap and a small number or moulded lead balls. The inside of the lid has its original ‘Collins Regent Street London’ trade label. The price for this fine pair of cased pistols includes UK delivery. NB as antique percussion weapons no licence is required to own these pistols in the UK if retained as part of a collection or display. Sn 21018
