DEACTIVATED INERT. This is a fired French WW1 shrapnel round for the 75mm Mle 1897 Field Gun which was the main field gun in the French army in the First World War. The round is headstamped 75 DEC R S L 1848 RS. The fired shrapnel projectile retains all of its original stampings round the top of the projectile; MA.S 165-15-M-76 and is fitted with a brass 24/31 Mod 1916 time fuse.
