Description

~ First India Pattern 39` Brown Bess Flintlock Musket Irish Reymarks c. 1796-1800 ~

This is a very fine example of a First Indian Pattern Brown Bess.

The markings on its lock plate have been put there at a later date by a collector.

The barrel is stamped near the hammer with three British proof marks. To the right of the hammer there is the "Crown over G.R." mark. To the left, the lock plate is stamped "Dublin Castle". To the reverse, on the brass fitting is stamped "Pattison".

It half cocks, cocks and releases with a strong spring.

~ Dimensions ~

The barrel length is 39 inches (99 cm) and the overall length of the musket is 55 inches (139.5 cm).

~ Condition ~

The woodwork is good with some chips and usage.

The barrel has developed some patina but everything is in good order.

The brass fittings show some signs of usage but the item has aged well.

~ Postage ~

UK postage is 25, international at cost and it can be viewed in our shop.
