The Mauser Model 1895 is a bolt operated magazine fed rifle using the 7×57mm Mauser cartridge. It was exported to many overseas powers, including the Chilean forces which adopted as the Fusil Mauser Chileno Mo 1895. It is the first major modification of the Mauser Model 1893 and was produced by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken, known as DWM, and Ludwig Loewe Company from 1895 to 1900. A great example of a German Mauser Model 1896 rifle, known as the "Swedish Mauser" as they were produced for their 6.5x55mm cartridge. Made in Germany by DWM (Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken Aktiengesellschaft -German Weapons and Munitions public limited company). DWM introduced the Pistol Parabellum ('Luger Pistol') in the early 1900s. It was worked on by Georg Luger and Hugo Borchardt. DWM manufactured the Maschinengewehr 01 and Maschinengewehr 08, licensed version/clone of the Maxim machine gun. This rifle has lovely woodwork with minor signs of age related use. It has a steel butt plate and butt disc. There is a contemporary repair to the stock under the bolt which has been professionally administered. The rear sight leaf is perfectly intact. Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken Berlin is imprinted to left handside of the bolt. A3217 is stamped to the bolt above crown/inspection mark.
