Create my profile now!INERT DEACTIVATED. This is a rare original British Boer War period 1900 Dated shrapnel shell fired by a British 12Pr 6cwt breach loading horse artillery gun. The gun was used extensively by the British in the Boer War and although outdated it lead to the quick introduction of the 13 pounder horse artillery gun in 1904. The shell is stamped on the side with a crowfoot 09/1900 (September 1900) and 7/7/00 (7th July 1900). The base of the projectile is stamped 12Pr 12/86 E FS (forged steel) and a crowfoot. The brass No. 56 time and percussion fuse is stamped round its circumference 10/00 (October 1900) R crowfoot L (Royal Laboratories) 671. The copper driving band shows the clearly defined rifleing of the 12 pounder gun. See Hogg British Artillery Weapons and Ammunition 1914 – 1914 pages 52-53. The projectile is in excellent condition and no licence is required to possess inert rounds in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. The price includes UK delivery. O 1837
