Plants Manufacturing Company, New Haven, Connecticut.
Front Loading, Cup Primed Pocket Revolver made mid 1860’s. Total quantity around 20,000.
Known to collectors as the “Pocket Model Plant’.
Production of these models was by the Eagle Manufacturing Company of New York City, with Plant’s Manufacturing Company, New Haven, as the sales office.
.30 caliber cup-primed. Five shot on most, six shot on Eagle Arms Co. (this is an Eagle Arms model).
3 + ½ inch ribbed octagon barrel, brass frame, silver plated finish with barrel and cylinder blued.
Reference: ‘Flaydermans Guide to Antique American Firearms’.
Stamped on top of the barrel: EAGLE ARMS CO, NEW YORK
Cylinder marked: PAT. JULY 12, 1859 and JULY 21, 1863
Serial number: 3005.
When pulling the hammer back the cylinder seems stuck, a bit of fiddling and the cylinder will turn.
Complete with cartridge ejector rod.
Original blueing to the cylinder and barrel.
Traces of silver remain on the frame.
All-in-all a very nice example of a scarce revolver.
In original un-messed-about-with condition.
